Pink lips are beautiful aesthetics both for men and women. Pink lips are more adorable to all whether you are a child, teenage, man, woman, or adult. Everybody likes soft red lips.
Lip’s natural color may be dark or pink; it generally depends on your skin color. Besides, many men (who have reddish lips) are not careful of their lips. They smoke, take lots of caffeine (more than 3 cups a day), randomly move in the sun, and probably don’t use any lip balm.
I see very few men use sunscreen for their face, let alone for lips. Sun rays cause dark pigments, suntan, and wrinkles on the lips. Even, untreated sunburnt lips may experience cancer though it is rare.
As a result, men notice darker lips than women. Below I will show those men who want to lighten their dark lips and get back their pink, soft, and reddish lips again using some cheap natural ingredients that you will find available in the kitchen.
These home remedies not only brighten up your black lips but also get rid of all dark spots, pigments, blemishes, wrinkles, sun spots, suntan, melanin, dead skin cells, cigarette marks, coffee/tea stain, and all other hyperpigmentation from lips.
Why men’s lips are darker than women
Lips may be dark naturally or genetically. Like African or South-Asian people who own dark lips by born, also their skin is dark.
Secondly, most of the men smoke. Cigarette contains nicotine that stains dark spots on the lips. Men move more in the sun. Sun rays burn the skin’s natural color. The skin of the lips is more subtle, it goes darker easily by the sunburn. They don’t use any sunscreen either for their face or lips.
Men drink lots of coffee or tea. I know some men around me who take about 5 cups of tea or coffee a day. Taking tea or coffee more than 3 cups a day may also tan the upper layers of the lips.
There are also some other reasons and medical conditions that can also cause dark spots on the lips. For example — some drugs, stress, low blood circulation, chemotherapy, lack of vitamins, anemia, melasma, hyperpigmentation, excessive use of fluoride, prolonged use of lipstick (in women), dehydration, keeping lips dry, etc.
Anyway, avoiding these things or taking care of your lips properly can give you pink, soft, moisturized lips.
How to get pink, soft, and sexy lips for men
You deserve more kisses if your lips are pink. I CAN BET YOU, SERIOUSLY!
1. Avoid Smoking
Smoking causes dark lips. Avoid smoking if you want pink lips. Smoking puts black stains on the lips. Even prolonged smoking can also stain the teeth. The skin around the lips and mouth gradually becomes tan by smoking. If you can’t stop smoking by yourself, you can also read, ‘Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking’. This book will definitely help you.
2. Scrub Your Lips
Lips go dark for dead skin cells on them especially in winter when our lips become chapped and dry. And it basically produces dead skin cells on lips. Exfoliation removes those dead skin cells leaving lips supple, smooth, and rosy.
My favorite lip scrub is honey with brown sugar. Mix one teaspoon of brown sugar with two teaspoons of honey. Rub the lips with this mixture for 60 seconds. Then cleanse off the lips with a tissue. It will get rid of all dirt, impurities, and dull cells. Or you can use any readymade lip scrub.
You can also follow my method. I put some Vaseline petroleum jelly thickly on my lips before going to bed. In the morning I rub the lips gently with my fingers. It gently exfoliates all dead skin cells leaving my lips smooth, even, rosy, and so soft that hold all over the day.
3. Apply Lip balm
Applying lip balm is good for dry, chapped lips. It will keep your lips protected and hydrated from all drying factors. Keep a lip balm always in your pocket. Apply it whenever your lips go dry or chapped. That means if you can keep your lips moisturized for 24 hours, your lips will look smoother and brighter.
4. Protect Your Lips from Sun and Wind Burns
Our lips are the most exposed parts of the body even while we wear sunscreen for our body or face. But, lips get sunburnt faster and it causes dark spots, sun spots, tan, melanin, wrinkles, and pigments on the lips. Using an SPF lip balm will defend your lips from drying and darkening.
5. Tattooing Lips like the African
It may be shocking to you but many men in Nigeria and other African countries doing this bizarre beauty procedure. They are tattooing their lips especially the bottom lips with a pink hue.
Recently the BattaBox TV has featured a short video on the lip tattooing trend in Nigeria. And one can do it just for $30-40.
6. Almond Oil and Lemon Juice
Lemon juice contains vitamin C that helps reduce dark spots, black patches, tan, and all discolorations on the lips and almond oil moisturizes chapped lips. Mix one teaspoon of each lemon juice and almond oil. Apply this mixture to the lips. After a few minutes, rinse your lips off with cold water. Do it daily and your lips will be gradually redder.
7. Rose Petals and Milk Cream
Smash up some fresh rose petals and mix it with some milk cream. Apply it on the lips. Wait for some minutes and rinse your lips off. Doing it daily helps you get soft and bright lips. Rose petals instantly add a pink hue to the lips. But, carefully cleanse off the lips because raw rose color can stay longer hours that may be unsightly for boys.
8. Beetroot Juice
Beetroot is a nice natural skin lightener as it belongs to vitamin C and other antioxidants. You can rub a slice of beetroot onto the lips gently for several minutes. It will add a rosy color to the lips. Or you can rub your lips with beetroot juice using your fingers or cotton ball. Wait some minutes and then cleanse off the lips and notice pink plumper lips.
9. Pomegranate Juice and Milk
Mix two teaspoons of pomegranate juice with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Leave this mixture on the lips for 8-10 minutes and then wash your lips off with cold water. It will add a reddish color to the lips.
10. Lemon and Sugar
Lemon juice contains antioxidants that whiten hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, uneven tones, and spots on the skin including lips. It helps lighten dark spots, brown shades, and patches on the lips while also protecting the lips from the sun rays and getting aged. Besides, sugar is an excellent exfoliant to slough off dead skin cells.
Cut a lemon, spread some sugar on a slice, and rub it gently onto the lips for 2 minutes. Then cleanse off your lips with a tissue. Follow these home remedies once or twice a week to turn your lips naturally beautiful.
Lemon juice contains citric acid that may irritate or dry out your sensitive skin. Use a lip balm following after lemon juice. Yet, if you feel more discomfort, stop using lemon juice and choose other alternative.
11. Toothpaste, Lemon Juice, and Sugar
Toothpaste may irritate the skin of the lips. If so, don’t use it. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of toothpaste, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, and an adequate amount of lemon juice altogether to make a natural scrub. Now apply this mixture to your lips and rub gently with your fingers in circular motions for one minute. It will lighten and remove dark spots, nicotine marks, dead skin cells, and suntan on the lips leaving them rosier, healthier, and softer. You can either use a toothbrush to scrub off the lips. It will increase the blood circulation of the lips making them looking tender and sexier.
What else can be also done for getting Korean male-like lips
Apart from using these home remedies, follow these tips to keep your lips candied.
- Don’t use old or expired lip balm, sunscreen, or other lip care products.
- Avoid smoking & alcohol. Don’t drink tea or coffee more than 3 cups a day.
- Keep your skin always hydrated. The more your skin is hydrated, the smoother your skin will look. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily.
- Don’t lick or bite your lips. It damages lips more. Saliva dries out the upper skin of the lips. And when you bite dead skin cells, it may bleed also.
