Even a lip scrub smooths out the lip tone helping hold lipstick or gloss flawlessly for hours.
Probably, you know that our lips have poor barrier function and they are not capable of retaining moisture as not having oil glands themselves. That’s the main reason lips become chapped frequently.

Honey and sugar lip scrub (my favorite)
Mix 2 teaspoons of honey with one teaspoon of brown sugar. Apply some scrubs on the lips and massage it with fingers for 1 minute. Let it leave on the lips for another 5-10 minutes. Then cleanse off your lips with a wet face washer.
Sugar is an excellent exfoliant and honey is a natural conditioner. When these two natural ingredients are mixed together, they become just an awesome moisturizing lip scrub. Want to try?
Vaseline/lip balm and toothbrush
Apply some Vaseline petroleum jelly on the lips and wait for some minutes to soak it deeply. Then with a clean soft toothbrush rub the lips gently in a circular motion. It will remove all dead skin cells giving you even, soft lips.
Lemon juice and castor oil
Mix 1 tablespoon of castor oil with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Put this mixture on the lips for an hour or so. Then rub the lips gently with fingers in the circular motion and rinse off with a clean wet washcloth.
Lemon juice may irritate the skin although some studies support the use of lemon juice for lips.
How many times one should exfoliate her lips
While exfoliation gets rid of flaky, dull, and scaly buildups giving you immediate shiny lips, frequent exfoliation may irritate your lips.
According to WebMD, don’t over exfoliate your lips, not more than twice a week. Strat from once a week. Rubbing strongly or using harsh exfoliants can also cause irritating wounds on the lips.
What are the perfect lip exfoliating ingredients?
What ingredients you choose depends on you. There are lots of different home remedies that are cheap but effective for skin. Remember one thing in preparing a homemade lip scrub.
The perfect mixture of an abrasive ingredient and a moisturizing ingredient so that you can eliminate dull cells as well as condition the lips.
|Coffee grounds||Shea butter|
|Cinnamon||Olive, coconut, or jojoba oils|
|Rose petals||Raw milk cream|
Take small amount of ingredients like 1 teaspoon/tablespoon, actually according to your needs and comfortable.

Some ingredients can burn, sting, irritate, or tingle your lips. Dermatologists suggest to avoid those ingredients that can irritate lips. Hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic products are safe.

Pick products that are infused with moisturizing compounds like shea butter, hempseed oil, castor seed oil, petrolatum, etc.
Exfoliating the lips is not everything!

- Avoid licking, biting or picking your lips.

Use SPF 30 lip balm or higher when you go outside to prevent your lips from the sunburn. Later, sunburns cause sunspots, tan, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation on the lips.
